《신낭만사회》로의 초대

신경다양성 신진 작가들을 발굴하는 <국민일보 아르브뤼미술상>은 ‘장애’라는 이름의 복지를 말하지 않습니다. 독창성과 예술성 있는 작가를 찾아내고, 이들의 예술세계가 이 시대 왜 중요한지 알리는 통로가 되고자 합니다.

여기, 수상자 13명이 좀 특별한 초대장을 건넵니다. 이들이 그린 세상에는 팔이 네 개인 사람과 두 개인 사람이 다정히 어깨를 맞대고 걷고, 인간과 기계, 동물이 나란히 앉아 서로의 한 끼를 살핍니다. 코끼리 몸에 새겨진 작은 동물들의 흔적은, 우리가 서로를 품고 사는 퍼즐 조각임을 일깨워줍니다.

이곳에는 ‘정상’이라는 차가운 잣대가 없습니다. 대신 기계가 인간의 지친 어깨를 보듬고, 인간은 동·식물이 사는 숲의 숨결과 하나가 되어 숨을 쉽니다.

장애라는 경계가 녹아내리고, 동물과 식물, 인간과 기계가 스스럼없이 어울려 서로 안부를 묻는 곳. 우리들의 새로운 낙원 '신낭만사회'로 초대합니다.

An Invitation to “The Neo-Romantic Society”

The Kukmin Daily Art Brut Art Contest, dedicated to discovering emerging neurodivergent artists, does not speak the language of welfare framed as “disability.” Instead, it seeks out artists of originality and artistic integrity, serving as a platform to show why their creative worlds matter in our time.

Here, thirteen award recipients extend an invitation of an unusually special kind. In the worlds they imagine, people with four arms walk shoulder to shoulder with those who have two, while humans, machines, and animals sit side by side, gently tending to one another’s shared meal. The traces of smaller animals etched across an elephant’s body remind us that we are all fragments of a larger puzzle, each making space for the other.

In this place, there is no cold yardstick called “normal.” Rather, machines gently cradle the weary shoulders of humans, and humans breathe in rhythm with the forests where animals and plants dwell.

This is a world where the boundaries imposed by disability melt away; where animals and plants, humans and machines mingle without hesitation, exchanging quiet gestures of care.
